The Home Guard, led by Captain Mainwaring (Arthur Lowe), try and defend against the Germans, as per the TV series. Unfortunately the format that worked so well in the 30-minute TV episodes really doesn't stretch to the full length of this film, and some jokes get essentially repeated towards the end.
Still good enough to watch, though, and you never tire of the classic cast on show.
