Review of Daddy's Home 2 (2017) by Jtr F — 06 Nov 2017
Pleasantly surprised!
I had the pleasure of seeing an early screening of Daddy's Home 2 over the weekend, and I've got to say I was surprised. Surprised only because, in my opinion, it was better than its predecessor! Now, maybe I'm just saying that because I'm a sucker for holiday themed movies, but for me, the laughs just kept coming.
Will Ferrell for me was the stand out in this one. I've enjoyed Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg's comedic timing and chemistry, and I feel like expounded upon that here. I thoroughly enjoyed Mel Gibson. Definitely wasn't a fairy tale ending for Dusty and his dad, and I think that was a smart choice. Just wouldn't have felt right for the characters. Jon Lithgow was wonderful, Linda Cardellini (mmm) was great as always. Jon Cena never disappoints.
All in all, for me this movie was great. It was fun, heartfelt, surprising at times, and just an overall good time!
