Review of Dabangg (2010) by Taminder S — 16 Nov 2018
This movie was fabulous! I loved Sonaskhi Sinha as she slayed in her debut. I love Salman Khan bringing a new look and of course many people follow his lead after (Rowdy Rathore, Singham, etc). He brings the energy of a new type of protagonist and shows off a very fake strength. I think that is what makes this movie so amazing, that he can actually get away with it and show that yes this is a Bollywood movie; having many fake and out of norm aspects to a character is the beauty of Bollywood.
This can be compared to Vijay in Deewar. An older brother whom the mother loves more, that tends to break the law but will fight for what he believes is right. I really believe that Dabangg shows how Bollywood has evolved, this being a new age of Bollywood movies. Vijay was a skinny lanky guy who punched but can die from shots. Salman Khan is short and swole and is basically impenetrable. His auora and presence literally blows everyone away. Looking forward to a part 3!
