Review of Cyrus (2010) by Steve S — 26 Jul 2011
It's been awhile but I recall this movie being witty, laconic and evocative. Hill triumphs as the mischievous yet truly spineless rugrat stuck in The Penguin's body. Reilly also hits home with his probity towards his supposed yet disconcerting love (Tomei).
Many of its variables are indie, but its ethos is of a big-boy film. Its maturity, comic appeal, and smartly-dosed sentimentality births Cyrus which rejoins the queries of family, attachment and simply growing up.
