Review of Cyrus (2010) by Shane D — 03 Feb 2014

I think this is the best Duplass brothers film. It helps to have the talents of John C Reilly, Catherine Keener, Marisa Tomei and Jonah Hill carrying the flick, but I thought it told a pretty unique story that was generally believable thanks to the actors involved.

It was funnier than I expected it to be and unpredictable enough that I never felt like I knew where it was ultimately going to end up. It tells a good story with likable characters and a good sense of humor, and the dynamic between Hill and Reilly is almost as good as the pairing of Reilly and Will Ferrell in Step Brothers.

Highly recommended for fans of "mumblecore" films or indie comedies.
