One of the most painful movies I've ever seen. Ever since movies like Juno and Funny People lots of filmmakers have been trying to capture that and be charming and funny at the same time. Cyrus ultimately fails at both with little to no chemistry between the actors and virtually 1/3 of the movie is spent watching awkward camera movements in complete silence (predominantly zoom shots where properly timed cuts would have been much more interesting and easier to watch).
It is funny in a very relative way in which you have to find the comedy in the jokes it's trying to crack but when you watch a movie that is considered funny it should be inherently funny in itself and you shouldn't have to to search for the meaning behind the joke.
