Review of Cyrano de Bergerac (1990) by Owen J — 01 Nov 2008
Phenomenal. Absolute quality all round, I had high expectations for the film and it managed to surpass them Depardieu gives a flawless performance as the tortured hero Cyrano de Bergerac he's witty, tough yet vulnerable and tragic.
Although the film is at times funny and action packed its one of the most gut wrenchingly heartbreaking films ever made, god damn unrequited love it's the worst. The attention to detail in the film is astonishing and the sets are sublime.
The writing and direction are top notch the script is packed full of razor sharp wit and the romantic scenes handled with poetic aplomb. Pure class.
