Joe Wright directs his somewhat overweight partner Haley Bennett in a sumptuous flop at the box office. I believe the cause lies not in the parts so fashionable today, the musical sections and the dramedy flaunted from the first scenes when romanticism is already alternating with death, but in some of the French elements: ok the amour à trois and the amour fou, lot less the characterization of the protagonist. Dinklage's "Cyrano" is a self-inflicted body shaming because of pride, and his epistolary lyrical relationship displaces the current audience accustomed to emojis.
