Review of Cypher (2002) by Ashley L — 10 Jun 2006
Absolutely brilliant film with a stunning soundtrack and brilliant cinematography. This movie has a brilliant and what seemed like an original premise, until The Island (Michael Bay) stole the brainwashing sequence almost exactly. Some very brilliant filming teqniques also.
At the beginning of the film there is a very sterile and colourless atmosphere, and the characters seem emotionless, however this is exactly how the director wants to enforce how boring Morgan's life really is. To contrast this we also get much more colour as the film progresses, and this is initiated by Rita's colourful face, hair and dress sense. One of the best twists at the end, this film has everything: conspiracy, romance, corruption and a sense of identity. You must see this film.
