Review of Cypher (2002) by Dave F — 10 Dec 2008
This is technically more a spy thriller than sci-fi, but the story eventually evolves to have some decent sci-fi/fantasy themes. For a movie that never got theature time this movie is a amazing example of what can be done with a modest budget, and the perfect movie to impress your friends with your ability to find hidden gems (much less sci fi) in cinema.
This would defintely be on our top 10 list if it had a stronger sci/fi/fantasy theme, but has to be edged off the top list purely because it doesn't fit solidly in the scope of what this site, and to the fans of sci-fi b cinimea.
Worth a second viewing because of ithe maze of plot twists and story layers can be hard to keep up with, and enjoyment still holds up even if you know the surprises.
