"Existential horror"--yeah, that's the Kurosawa.2 methodology. For those who think Kairo is too simple, a tale of hypnotism, memory loss and philosophical exploration far beyond the boundaries of human morality (or, quite possibly, simple humanity).
Whatever the hell it is with the Japanese, this has it in spades.
