Review of Cure (1997) by Mattias E — 30 Dec 2008
Slow, quietly unsettling psychological thriller from Kurosawa Kiyoshi, the maestro of the genre. Here, evil is uncommonly presented, not as a tangible outside force to be battled by the good, but rather as a virus spreading disease uncontrollably.
Add to this some very eerie sounddesign, understated acting and beatifully framed scenes, and you'll be creeped out in no time. Masterful.
