Review of Cujo (1983) by Tyler S — 16 Jun 2008
This adaptation of Stephen King's horror novel, Cujo, is actually pretty good. It is often frightening and very intense (not too mention somewhat bloody). The storyline is not entirely horror, however.
The first half of the film is a drama, helping overcome an otherwise ridiculous premise. The filmwork, however, is nothing special, as is the cinematography. There are some notable performances by Dee Wallace and Daniel Hugh Kelly, but most of the other acting is just a little above average.
These are the two main downfalls of the film, making some parts seem to drift off into typical filmwork. If you overlook those aspects, however, Cujo is a quality movie.
