Review of Cube (1998) by Matthew B — 05 May 2018

Being that it's 20 years old, I should have to worry about spoiler it, but whatever.

A lot of the movie seemed pretty good. It lacked in a lot of what plot twists took place such as the numbers or the fact that rooms had different colors that meant nothing. I guess whenever a set of numbers are identified, they identify for every set of permutations the cube gives...so if a trap is found, I guess every time the cube moves a new trap is put in its place.

There is not way the cop should have met up with the group at the very end. They moved far away from him and he would have had to navigate around traps as well. I was so pissed off when the guy and girl just sat down like mentally challenged idiots when they finally had the exit right in front of them. Horror movies always do this where people are running for hours frantically trying to stay alive and then suddenly need a pep talk when the glorious save point is in front of them. What a time to have a mid-life or identity crisis.

Also, I heard the door hatch open long before he attacked, I was wearing headphones and it sounded like the autistic guy closed the door so my first thought was why did they not look up and then my second thought was "I bet the cop caught up to the them", then sure enough. Also, I want to know how 5 people that aren't exactly in the best of shape can monkey-bar out of a room without making any noise, especially the autistic guy that wouldn't shut up in any other part of the movie.
