Review of C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America (2005) by M M — 29 Aug 2006
This could have been fucking awesome, but whilst still remaining a reasonably clever and witty satire it does fail somewhat. By opting for a parallel history rather than an alternative one you lose a sense of possibility and continuity so by the mid twentieth century it begins getting silly to the point of distraction.
This would make for a decent companion piece to Manderlay, but with the latter now readily available on DVD and so infinitely better CSA ultimately seems hugely overshadowed.
