Review of Cry_Wolf (2005) by Josh J — 16 Oct 2008

First of all, this is a bad movie. No question.

However, I also think this movie is a bit of a victim of both bad marketing and its own delusions.

This was marketed as a psuedo-slasher in the post-Scream slasher genre. It is, in fact, not a slasher at all. The characters sum it up pretty early on. Avoid suspicion and accuse your neighbor. Accusations are thrown around like prozac at a therapists office. None of it really amounts to much. Which is the other problem. This is a movie that is clearly very pleased with itself. I'd wager that the filmmakers thought they were a bit more clever than they actually were.

All that being said, I find it to be an enjoyable diversion.
