Review of Cry-Baby (1990) by Mark N — 19 Sep 2012
Commercial John Waters is surprisingly good and watchable as he fuses his absurdist characters, rockabilly music and restrains on the shock for mass appeal.
No doubt Depp's casting has massively inflated the movies popularity but as usual it's the diverse cast that really makes the movie work. The songs and choreography a well executed and spaced out enough to avoid becoming tiresome. For a chic-flic boys will find something to enjoy too.
