Review of Cruising (1980) by Heather L — 30 May 2008
This movie has provoked a lot of controversy and was covered in 'The Celluloid Closet,' which is what led me to watch the film. I guess I really don't see what all the furious anger is about.
The movie has three basic redeeming qualities: 1. The Germs 2. Al Pacino and 3. Paul Sorvino.
Other than that, it's really not worth a lot. The character development is virtually non-existent and the rest of it is just sex, sex, and more sex. I can't help but think that the MPAA has gotten more strict in recent times, because I can't imagine a film with a fisting scene flying with only an 'R' rating in today's world.
