Review of Cruising (1980) by Carlos B — 06 Feb 2010
Pretty good mystery that seems to walk a fine line between real and surreal, especially by the end. Director Friedkin is one who never feared breaking conventions, though it didn't always get him stellar results, and this film is a good example of that.
There is also some controversial subject matter here, portraying gay men as decadent and sex crazed, but if this film came out today, most people would plainly understand that this isn't a demonization as some played it out to be back in 1980.
