I really wasnt sure id enjoy this as much as I did. The soundtrack is relentlessly well chosen and the plot moves with a decent pace with some superb cinematography.
As enjoyable as the screenplay was, I couldn't help feeling that the original material upon which the character is based was more of an anchor than not and that if it had simply been any other nameless character I might've been less distracted by its presence. Emma Stone was superb as the title character and in scenes with Emma Thompson showed great chemistry. The whole Cruella/estella writing never quite sat well with me as it feels like there is not enough depth to her motivations to justify most of her actions (regardless of how entertaining they are!). But I just kind of switched off from overthinking this and enjoyed the ride.
The soundtrack was so well chosen I may as well have been listening to a selection of 60's and 70's hits for two hours. The sets and visual effects were at times quite stunning.
Overall this was a fascinating and well produced work of art and a great movie experience.
