Review of Cruel Intentions 2 (2000) by Casey Y — 01 Dec 2007
Bad is hardly the word to describe this prequel. Unwatchable is probably better. Instead of acting, the leads imitate Gellar and Phillippe from the original, and end looking stupid and inexperienced instead of sexually practiced and wicked.
Amy Adams, who is usually in top form, drifts along here and Robin Dunne (from a very short stint on "Dawson's Creek") tends to lean more on the geeky side to play Sebastian. The film is uneven in it's story, and has and ending that discredits everything that came before it.
The script is also unoriginal, with actual lines from the original used the second time around ... the only thing cruel about this sequel is having to sit through it.
