Review of Crows Zero (2007) by Joost K — 31 Aug 2009
Don't expect a deep story or a cinematic-masterpiece, but, especially for the Japanophiles among us, this movie is highly entertaining.
A top-cast of Japanese pretty-boys is thrown into a literal school of hard knocks, where lessons are replaced by fighting, and test.. by fighting. With the as-always cool and seemingly uninterested Shun Oguri in the lead role of Genji Takiya, the movie entertains and keeps you interested to the end.
Miike Takashi fulfills the expectations of nicely choreographed fighting sequences, and some tricks of the trade will undoubtedly suprise you, make you laugh or gasp for air.
Overall, highly entertaining, if seen without any expectation of depth or plot.
