Review of Crossing Over (2009) by Matthew L — 19 Jun 2009
Involving drama with a standout performance from Cliff Curtis and Harrison Ford finally embracing his age. The film's multi-thread structure works very well, except for the one involving the 15 year old girl sent back to Iran; her story I found heavy handed and hard to swallow.
The criminally underrated Curtis shines in this movie, really selling the scene in the liquor store hold-up (one that is admittedly also unbelievable) and shows that he's more then capable of taking the lead in films.
The film's structure allows for some clever surprises and the strong cast makes this film much better then a similarly styled Babel.
