Review of Crossing Over (2009) by Brad G — 19 Jun 2009
Wayne Kramerâ??s directed both The Cooler and Running Scared, two passionate but wildly different crime flicks and even though I donâ??t necessarily want to see him live in that genre for the rest of his life I really didnâ??t want to see him direct this message movie either.
Itâ??s not bad. Itâ??s good for what it is. But Iâ??m kinda tired of these Grand Canyon/Magnolia/Ameros Perros mega cast movies and forcing the whole issue of immigration onto that narrative just rubs me the wrong way.
Itâ??s a pretty pretentious narrative tool to begin with and it takes a really interesting script to keep the eyes from rolling. And the script just never really made me care about these archetype characters.
I gotta say that it was nice to see Harrison Ford working a little bit off the radar. VF.
