Review of Crossing Over (2009) by Kerry K — 21 Aug 2010
A powerful film that intertwines multiple storylines all exploring the theme of immigration and various people's struggle for legal status within the USA. One of the plots in particular that stood out for me was a young opinionated muslim girl doing a class speech regarding 9/11 and the dire consequences this has for her - definately raises a few questions over freedom of speech versus security of the country.
All the plots within the film were thoroughly absorbing - some make you sad, some make you angry. All the actors are excellent and the whole film really draws you in. I enjoyed it.
