Review of Cross of Iron (1977) by Sólver S — 23 Sep 2007
Along with Dr. Strangelove, this is one of the two best anti war cinema ever made in the English tongue. It is unforgettable when Stainer (played by James Couburn) to the arrogant Stransky, a self claimed Prussian of fine descent: ".
..I will show you where the Iron Crosses grow". I still have difficulties with 'Germans' speaking with English with American accents and that James Couburn's teeth were so unrealistically white, even though his character was supposed to have been at the eastern front for weeks on end with limited facilities for hygiene.
So, I give it four stars.
