Review of Cross of Iron (1977) by Andrew B — 25 Aug 2010
Peckinpah brings his trademark slow-motion violence to war but, typically, focusing on a German company fighting Russians. The conflict between a decorated hero who couldn't care less, and a captain hungry for the same honour is brilliantly and tragicly played out in landscape constantly shaken by bullets and bombs.
