Review of Crooklyn (1994) by Jamal W — 24 Jun 2007
Not the greatest movie of all time, but my personal favorite because growing up in the city, you can relate to Troy and her brothers. They literally had nothing, but with the fact that they had each other and there were a lot of other neighborhood kids like them, they made their own fun with the little they had.
I remember when my uncle took my cousins and I to see this around the time it came out, I was like 9...and you know, around that time, if it wasn't animated, we didn't care...but that movie is what really turned onto films and got me into wanting to make these type of stories whenever I branch out on my own.
Spike Lee is the man.
