Review of Cronos (1993) by Sara A — 07 Jun 2007
All of my friends know about this movie because I have made them sit down and watch it with me. This is the first feature film directed by Pan's Labyrinth's director Guilllermo del Toro. It is a horror movie but instead of going for gross-outs and eroticizing violence against women, it focuses on the relationship between an elderly man and his granddaughter, fixations, addiction and forgiveness.
Plus it really showcases the ethnic diversity of Mexico and the campyness that is Ron Perlman. So if you ever see a Mexican/American/Italian vampire movie this year, make it this one!
