Review of Cronos (1993) by Paul C — 19 Dec 2007
The best vampire movie you've never seen. Del Toro comes at the concept from a different angle, making his vampire a curious but kindly old man. The scene set in the men's bathroom where he thinks he's going to break and claim his first victim is a masterclass in tension and the scene following it, licking noseblood from a bathroom floor while savouring every drop is repulsive but compelling.
Made for no money, it's still the best modern vampire movie around.
