Review of Cronos (1993) by Steven M — 04 Feb 2010
This started well but as it progressed I got more and more annoyed. I thought it was very poor. The relationship between the grandfather and granddaughter wasn't beautiful - they hardly spoke to eachother and hearing him ask her questions and getting no response hardly made my heart melt. The make-up was bad, and what was happening to his body wasn't explained in any detail. What was going on when he put his hand in his belly? Ron Perlman's performance was embarrassing. I did like the Cronos object as an object but how did it work? Why an insect? This was just nonsense.
By the end I was stunned at the ridiculousness and was begging for mercy. That essentially this is a sad story and the director expects us to be touched as the credits roll is unbelievable.
