Review of Cronos (1993) by Hunter D — 20 Dec 2010
CRONOS is Guillermo Del Toro's first feature, and his most overlooked film in favor of inferior works like PAN'S LABYRINTH. Del Toro brings a fresh take on vampire lore with a tale about an antique dealer (Federico Luppi) who stumbles upon a a strange device that prolongs his life while his body undergoes bizarre changes he doesn't understand.
Throw an evil, rhinoplasty-obsessed Ron Perlman in the mix and you have something special, a horror movie unlike any other. Check out the magnificent Criterion Blu-ray, all done up with art by Hellboy's Mike Mignola.
