Review of Cronos (1993) by Wes M — 03 Nov 2012
It was good, but the Halloween Cinema Night audience unanimously agreed: we'll need to see it again to fully appreciate it. The story is cliche and familiar, yet the narrative style and innovation save it.
Helluva debut from powerhouse Del Toro, with very solid effects for a low budget, early 90s flick. The dialogue switches from English to Spanish throughout the movie, which could get annoying for some, but I didn't mind.
Federico Luppi, a Del Toro veteran, gets the main role, and handles it with ease. And yes, Ron Perlman co-stars, so all you Sons fans can rejoice, cuz he plays the same character. This is definitely a nice slow burn horror tale.
