Review of Crimson Peak (2015) by Steve W — 31 Oct 2015
Crimson Peak is a luscious and visually stunning Gothic horror romance from Guillermo del Toro. Its the strong characterization, mixed with meta like plot lines and creepy set design that really sell this movie.
Allerdale Hall is a character in itself, and all the performers do very well. The only thing I can knock is that it has more romance than horror, and the ghosts themselves are heavily made with a bad wispy visual effect that I think made them look crappy.
Other than that, its a sumptuous looking period piece horror that is creepy and visually appealing.
