Review of Crimson Peak (2015) by Ydnar4 — 12 Dec 2015
Crimson Peak was one of the more highly anticipated films of 2015 and it unfortunately did not live up to the hype. There is plenty to love about this movie but almost just as much to dislike. Everyone knows that with Del Toro at the helm we were going to get a beautiful looking film and there is no doubt about that.
The house is great and just everything about how this film looks is amazing. The performances are good too, not perfect, I think Tom Hiddleston was definitely the headliner of this cast. The real downer about this movie is the story which is also composed by Del Toro.
I was really engaged in the film for the first half but the story was not consistently bold enough to grab my attention throughout the whole film and in the end I found myself a little disappointed. Finally, just in case no one has told you yet, its really not that scary either and its not even really supposed to be.
