Review of Crimson Peak (2015) by Frederic C. B — 26 Apr 2016
The Good:
Creepy, and twisted but beautiful love story at the same time. The time setting makes for a wonderful premise. Jessica Chastain does a great job delivering a sinister but conflicted role, which is outside her norm. Tom Hiddlestone ambiguity is continuously intriguing throughout the movie. Eventhough at times her actions are downright stupid, Edith is a strong woman who can fight for her own freedom.
The Not-so-Good:
The first shot has already spoiled the ending, which in a way, reduces the stake of the movie. Some of the plot, especially concerning Lucille and Thomas are quite predictable. Wish I can see Charlie Hunnam more in this movie.
