Review of Crimson Peak (2015) by Abhinandhan D — 04 Nov 2015
Crimson Peak is directed by Guilemero Del Toro and stars Jessica Chastain,Tom Hiddelston and Mia Wasikowska in leading roles. Crimson Peak is a movie that for all its flaws still managed to keep me engaged till the end due to its gorgeous visuals,set/production design.
Its a testament to Del Toro's skill in Visual Film making. The story is pretty simple and the movie was mis marketed by the studio as a horror movie when its actually a gothic romance. The ghosts in the movie barely serve any purpose other than to look cool and have the main character walk around the hallways at night.
All the actors are solid especially Hiddleston who's character is definitely the most interesting of the bunch. I had an extremely good time with Crimson Peak and was amazed at its visuals throughout even if the plot was unsatisfactory.
