Review of Crimewave (1985) by Mike I — 03 Mar 2008
I expected the worst coz I knew the circumstances surrounding Raimi's making of it. But despite the rewrites, recastings and re-edits, it still stands up WELL. Early glimmers of Hudsucker Proxy and the like abound whilst the fantastic visceral stylings of Raimi lend themselves perfectly to this type of comedy.
Crazy that it's based on material from the same stock as LA Confidential and The Black Dahlia.
