Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Dan D — 12 Dec 2007
I'll admit that I can't pass proper judgment on this film before I see it again, but upon initial viewing I found it to be one of Allen's best-realized works. The ending is admittedly troublesome - it's not that I was looking for a "happy" ending (Landau's quote regarding this is hilarious, you can see Woody talking through him here) but I'm still trying to figure out exactly what Allen was trying to say.
Not laugh-out-loud funny, but brilliantly written and addresses a plethora of issues.
