Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Stephen E — 10 Dec 2011

At long last, my first Woody Allen film, and I'm glad to finally say that "Crimes and Misdemeanors" is actually very good. There are a plethora of fine performances (especially from Landau and Allen) and the direction is very well-rounded.

Allen also provides the screenplay, which is well-written and humorous. There is an intelligence in "Crimes and Misdemeanors" that makes it a standout amongst most comedies, and Allen's philosophical approach only serves as a strength.
