Review of Cries and Whispers (1972) by Jeff B — 01 Sep 2007
This movie was pretty incredible. I was captivated the whole time, it was an extremely well made Ingmar Bergman and it's one of my favorites of his (it's duking it out with Fanny & Alexander).
The cinematography was fantastic and the story was amazing, it had so many hidden meaning behind every scene, every line, every expression, this is how filmmaking is supposed to be done. I couldn't help but sort of relate to this film (having three brothers, though one is 10 years younger than me, the rest of us are all 2 years apart) I can kind of relate to the different emotions each sibling faces, the rivalry, the hatred, it's expressed so perfectly.
A wonderful film.
