Review of Cries and Whispers (1972) by Scott J — 18 Dec 2012
This movie is perhaps the most painful movie I have ever seen in my life, everything so drenched in red. Its different from other bergman movies in the way he has used color to show the contrast in the life of the characters.
The movie twists you and turns you as it gets under your skin. It seems so private at times but there's a universality to its privacy. The scene where anna cradles her on her breast is the most iconic scene that I have witnessed through the magic of cinema.
