Review of Cria! (1976) by Rodman A — 11 May 2009
It's well-made and has a great ambiance. On the surface it's a melancholic story of a child's perception of death and childhood fears and confusion. When you dig deeper you find many allegories that makes it an statement against totalitarianism and patriarchy.
This is significant as the movie was made during last years of Franco's era. Those who say it's similar to Pan's Labyrinth are very correct.
