Review of Creepshow 2 (1987) by Carlos M — 10 Jun 2014
You know it won't be quite as good from the very opening when the Creep shows up and it feels more like an episode of Goosebumps than a sequel to one of the best horror movies ever made. The first segment is boring and the most forgettable of the entire movie.
The same could be said about the first movie as well, but with only three stories in this sequel there really shouldn't be any stories that feel like filler. The second story, The Raft, is the best by far.
It's actually one of the better stories between this and the first movie. It is the only reason this movie may even be worth watching. The final story is strange. It starts off alright and turns almost into a comedy.
It feels as if the movie had given up. The movie ends with the bookend story where a kid gets revenge on bullies by having giant venus flytraps eat them. This is actually kind of disturbing and shows why they decided to go with the animated route.
No way were they getting away with that live action. The way the kids scream is actually kind of disturbing and feels like it doesn't have a place in this movie. It's just a very bizarre mix of emotions because it feels too comical and cartoonish, but it's truly the only part of the movie that feels horrifying.
Probably would have been best on the cutting room floor, but that can be said for most of this movie.
