Review of Creed (2015) by Sirnilesiv — 14 Dec 2015
The movie is a solid eight, which puts it squarely at "worth the money." While this movie isn't going to win any awards, it does highlight the amazing endurance of the Rocky franchise, but also the boxing mythos, in general: the fallen son, redeemed by his adopted family and adopted father. While there are moments in the movie, like Rocky's cancer, the quality of opponents, and the relative ease that he becomes a "good" fighter, the ending is very satisfying. The challenge with most boxing movies is it literally comes down to a single event, so there's a 50-50 chance it will end in a way that you expected, fortunately they chose a different path. With the loss at the end, but a loss that shows his potential, the movie shows that it isn't above it's own myth creation and lives in the, somewhat, real world.
Great to see in the theaters or as a Netflix night.
