I would have liked a more though provoking feel to the film but the story is a good one about a mans struggle to create the meaning of science and the impact it could have in a world of religion which he did with his book the origins of species.
......but his personal battle with the loss of his beloved daughter and very deeply religious wife is the focus of the film, the performances are brilliant and the script is very moving in places but you do have to be into history and costume drama films to really like it! other wise your just gonna be bored lol.
