Review of Creation (2009) by Ellen G — 13 Mar 2011
The name Darwin and film would seemingly conjure up images of the immensely gorgeous Galapagos Islands. But in Creation, be warned that the viewer will be almost entirely stuck in dreary olde England. This film focuses on Darwin's (Bettany) struggle with the loss of his eldest daughter and his now difficult marriage to his devout Christian wife Emma (Connelly) who cannot understand her husband damning himself.
The film is relentlessly melodramatic with every scene or character outside of Darwin there to add insight or opinion. The cinematography is quite nice however. But in all, a rather poor work - and this coming from a non-Christian.
