I initially watched this film because it starred Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone but overall it was neither of their finest performances. But this is by no means a disappointing film. The acting line up by first impressions was impressive and overall good.

I don't have much care for Steve Carell, I loved him in '40 Year Old Virgin' and some of his supporting roles like in 'Anchorman' and 'Bruce Almighty'. But the wrest of his work is very hit and miss.

I'm not a big fan of Julianne Moore either, every role shes cast for I can just imagine a different actress who would of been a better choice. Ryan Gosling is cool as always and has some of the best pieces of dialogue in the film.

But by his standards it's not his most memorable role, but enjoyable none the less. Although shes doesn't get much screen time Emma Stone is a good addition to the supporting cast but would of loved to of seen more of her.

One piece of casting that baffled me was Kevin Bacon. Why is he in this film? I'm not a great fan of his but he's too bigger name to be in such a minor role. It doesn't even pass as a cameo.

A big name in a small role has to invade the atmosphere whilst on screen but he just doesn't. Marisa Tomei is great in a supporting role, loved her in the 'Wrestler' and enjoyed her in this too.

My favourite members of the cast has to be Jonah Bobo and Analeigh Tipton. I thoroughly enjoyed them in scenes together and they where arguably the most convincing performances in the film. I feel I've been fairly critical of the cast, as its a miss match of some of my favourite and not so favourite actors and actresses.

I just wanted more from Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. But collectively the cast members compliment one another to produce an enjoyable and easy watching comedy. There's not many laugh out loud moments, but the light hearted humour is entertaining enough.

Mid way through it it felt directionless and pacing is a little jittery, but the films climax is surprising and concludes brilliantly. Overall I was entertained and would happily watch this film again as it was very easy to watch and isn't too full on for a casual viewing.
