Review of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) by Timothy M — 01 Sep 2018
I'd be lying if this movie didn't move me in a very visceral way as an Asian American. It's nice finally seeing Asians cast in roles that aren't stereotypes, kung fu gods, or nerds. Not only was this a really good, interesting and funny movie it was a tipping point for hollywood.
Who no longer can ignore the power of diversity and inclusion in movies particularly if they want to make money which of course is usually all they care about. Both Black Panther before it and now with Crazy Rich Asians, the people have spoken, and people of color want a seat at the table.
I have always felt that what truly makes America so great is that it is a melting pot of different races, cultures, ethnicities, religions, food, languages, clothes, and it is truly those differences that is the beautiful fabric of America.
..which is unlike any other nation on earth. Go see this movie, not just for the milestone cultural achievement but because its just damn good.
