Review of Crazy Rich Asians (2018) by Movie G — 27 Aug 2018

A movie full of cliches where the characters are just complex enough to be interesting, but never really fully believable, "Crazy Rich Asians" wins the day due to the palpable chemistry between the cast and an mission to just have fun with the entire thing.

This movie knows what it is. It sets out with panache and rolls forward knowing just how far to go but not too far. I went to see it with two Chinese friends--they said it was alright. That probably means, like Chinese food in America, there's a veneer of authenticity but what you're getting is not the real thing at all.

That said, everyone here loves it.
